The Coundon Learning Centre (CLC)
Sometimes our students may need additional support in school. Here in the Coundon Learning Centre (CLC) we have a team of mentors, teachers, counsellors and progress managers who aim to remove any barriers to learning in order to ensure everyone has the best chance of success.
A wide range of interventions take place in the CLC. Students may spend time in the CLC if they need support to catch up with their learning or to take part in individual or small group work that complements our pastoral work that takes place across the school. Some students may work here if they need support meeting our school expectations – especially if it is hindering them or others from learning.
Health and Wellbeing is very important to us at Coundon Court. The CLC allows opportunities to talk in a safe space with trained professionals.
Our latest additions to the CLC are our “Thrive” and Sensory rooms. Please find below a link that discusses “Thrive” - a whole school approach to promote positive behaviour that we use at Coundon Court.

SEND
At Coundon Court, we pride ourselves in enabling every student with special educational needs to make as much progress as they can. We are a fully inclusive mainstream school and we strive to ensure all students achieve personally, socially, emoitionally and academically – across all areas of our broad academic and wider curriculum.
Our SEN department comprises of an experienced and dedicated team of learning support assistants and graduate mentors, who support our SENDCO and assistant SENDCO in order to deliver a high quality provision for all of our students. We support students through a wide range of academic provisions: Fresh Start Literacy Intervention, Toe-by-Toe, additional reading, additional numeracy, handwriting practise, speech and language sessions and complex-communication sessions.
Our aim is to provide an inclusive, personalised environment with the support from our team that encompasses the needs of all of our students, ensuring their time at Coundon Court provides them with the skills and confidence that they need for their next steps.
We encourage all parents/carers who would like some more information regarding our SEN provision to contact Mrs Thompson-Moore, our SENDCO at school. We look forward to hearing from you. Kerry.Thompson-Moore@coundoncourt.org
